'Tis the season, the charity season

The charity events are really picking up now that the warm weather has arrived! Of course I hope everyone is saving Thursday, May 13th for our inaugural wine tasting event at Fenway Park to support the Foundation Fighting Blindness AND Saturday, May 15th for an event held by the United Way Emerging Leader's which will take place at the Boston Children's Museum.

I received an event request on facebook for another great event that will take place at Fenway Park on Friday, April 9th.   This is the 4th  Annual Toast to benefit Boston Prep. The evening includes an all-star silent auction, live music, dinner, an open bar, and a toast to the school. Tickets are $100 in advance, $125 at the door. To purchase tickets: http://www.bostonprep.org. Baseball Formal: Black Tie optional, Ball Cap / Red Socks encouraged.

With all of these upcoming events and weddings, I need to do some dress shopping!

An alternative to the photo booth

It has been awhile since I have blogged, life has gotten crazy yet again.  Coming up on May 15th is the United Way Emerging Leader's gala that I am involved with (save the date!) and this year, instead of having a photo booth we are going to have Flip Books. The company is called Flip Chix  and they come to your event, video tape your guests for 7 seconds and they magically turn it into a custom flip book memento.   I think this is so clever and a great idea for wedding favors, special birthday party or like us, a charity event!

Slofting to Save and to Stop - this Thursday in Boston

Laurie and Katie are raising money for two great organizations: SOAR (Speak Out About Rape) and Boston Children's Hospital.   One is jumping out of a plane and the other running a marathon.  Laurie is a good friend who is absolutely terrified of heights - when we went zip-lining in Costa Rica, there were a lot of tears and hugging of trees.   Laurie went through a horrific rape experience that most of us didn't even know about until recently.  She has chosen to skydive to raise money for this cause, which is pretty amazing because it is probably one of her worst fears.

Come out this Thursday to the Sail Loft to support both organizations. There is no charge at the door but donations are appreciated and there will be a silent auction.   You can find the event on facebook  for more information.

Rent your own ski mountain

I think I am getting sad that ski season is coming to an end for 2010, just three more winter weekends in VT for me.  This might be one of the reasons I am so excited about this rental - your own private ski mountain for a day!  The cost...$2500.  It's Turner Mountain located in Libby, Montana. There's one lift but supposedly a ton of great skiing. This is now a must on my list of to do's.

So what to do with your own mountain?  I think kegs are a must and I am thinking a lot of rediculous competitions, including the best ski suit (preferably from the '70's or the '80's) and a shindig at the lodge to end the day with an awards ceremony of course.  Someone, please rent this!
