Still figuring out your New Years Eve plans?

Here are some options for those who are still contemplating what to do on NYE in Boston. Personally, I will be in Stowe, Vermont - skiing, celebrating at a friend's house and then heading to the Rusty Nail for some dancing as we wait for the clock to hit midnight. It is very casual but so much fun.
For those of you in Boston, I have a variety of options below that range from black tie to comedy.
NYE can be anything you want!

The Rusty Nail, Stowe, Vermont - where I will be.

Celebrate at the Beehive with live music!
Live music, dancing, passed hors d’oeuvres, dessert
$85 + tax (cash bar)

Sass it up at the Liberty Hotel -
Cocktail attire, live bands, DJ’, specialty cocktails & culinary delights – ooh la la!
Tickets are no longer available online, call 866.507.5245 for more information, it notes online that overnight packages (which include tickets to the party) are still available.

Get done up and head over to the cyclorama (great party space) for the Resolution Ball.
Tickets are $159 until 12/29 and $199 thereafter, no tickets sold at the door (Cash bar). Black tie optional.

Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons - spring for a four-course dinner, glass of champagne at midnight and be entertained by a live disco band. The festivities begin at 9:00 pm and continue until 1:00 am. $195 per person.

There are so many options if you are looking for a nice, festive dinner out, here are just a few.

Hamersley's Bistro - such a wonderful spot in the South End, although I did notice the trees around the restaurant are not as lit up this year as they have been in the past. Nonetheless, this is such a classic Boston restaurant, you can't go wrong.
4-course prix fixe $110/person, includes champagne toast

Enjoy a 3-course fixe prix meal at Beacon Hill Bistro then catch the fireworks in Boston Common, how romantic! 3 seatings, first at 5:30 last at 10pm.

Got to a show! How about Dane Cook at the Garden? 7pm, tickets start at $32.50. Head to the show and then out for drinks afterwards.

You could also go to a smaller comedy show at the Improv Asylum in the North End - Best part, you can buy buckets of beer! See the show than grab a late night bite to eat in the north end.
Improv Asylum New Years Show 8pm & 10pm, Tickets are $25

Setting your table for Christmas

I love Christmas and was lucky to grow up with a mom who went all out to make our house festive for holidays, but Christmas was my favorite by far. Garland, carolers and white lights adorned each fire place and we had two Christmas trees - the kids tree in the kitchen (including ornaments made by me and my brother) and the "designer" tree as I like to call it. One year, my mom put red roses on the tree - we had to put every single flower in a little vile of water to keep it alive. But, it was beautiful. (We only did that one year!). And to this day, the dining room is always set well in advance with beautiful napkin rings, china and flowers. I wanted to share some table settings I found online, I hope you have a festive holiday season!

I think this table is a lot of fun and great for a house in Vermont or out west. Table by Carolyn Roehme and posted on homeworkshop.com.

Country Living has a great slide show of centerpieces and table settings online.

While not a table, I love this banister from Coastal Living.

Some place card holders from Crate & Barrel.

A dash of red for the holidays

I fell upon a fantastic website - stylemepretty.com today and have fallen in love!  Started by fellow Bostonians, the site is full of great ideas for a wedding or any party.  Oh how I wish my website could be my full-time job.  If you are looking for inspiration, be sure to visit stylemepretty ASAP.  One feature I love, you can search by color palette, what a great idea. Below are some photos from the website, all with a little bit of red for the holidays.  Enjoy!

Voting on a date

I don't use mypunchbowl.com very often but they offer something that can come in handy!  If you are having trouble finding a date that works for a large group of people - you can use mypunchbowl.com, send out multiple dates to the group and let everyone vote.  This is a great tool for work and social occasions.

Chrismukkah 2009

Chrismukkah 2009 has come and gone. As promised, here are some photos from the holiday celebration.  The evening started off with arts and crafts - everyone decorated their own Santa hat. This was serious because this is the hat everyone will have to wear each Chrismukkah for the rest of their life!   We also had a lovely customized, cardboard snowman for photo ops, ridiculous - yes, but oh so entertaining. Traditions like this are great for bring together friends and family and my mom always said pick one party to host each year so you can continue to build on it. This has become mine.

Group shot in our Santa hats.

The winning hat (yes, this turned into a competition), congratulations Heather!

Everyone with their gifts, I got my very own snuggie.

This is fun for any type of party, $29-$39 from Shindigz.

The edible dreidels! Not as perfect as Martha's, but not bad for my first try, right?

Favors for everyone from Santa. I was on a limited budget, but who doesn't like candy? M&M candy canes with festive tags
