Rent your own ski mountain

I think I am getting sad that ski season is coming to an end for 2010, just three more winter weekends in VT for me.  This might be one of the reasons I am so excited about this rental - your own private ski mountain for a day!  The cost...$2500.  It's Turner Mountain located in Libby, Montana. There's one lift but supposedly a ton of great skiing. This is now a must on my list of to do's.

So what to do with your own mountain?  I think kegs are a must and I am thinking a lot of rediculous competitions, including the best ski suit (preferably from the '70's or the '80's) and a shindig at the lodge to end the day with an awards ceremony of course.  Someone, please rent this!

Bring your celebration to an island...a private island

I am writing from Florida where it should be warm and sunny, right?  Wrong, I woke up to strong winds pounding against the doors to my bedroom.  What is going on this winter?  At least I have some blogging time over coffee.

On my flight down here, I was inspired to research some party destinations when reading through Coastal Living and seeing Jennifer Anniston's 41st Birthday celebration in US Weekly. Although Jennifer Anniston didn't rent a private island, she did rent a kick ass house and brought her closest friends along for what sounded like a pretty incredibly multiple day celebration.  I am focusing on private islands, because how cool would it be to invite your friends & family to your own island for a special occastion?

Some of these private islands are a bit over the top pricewise but there are also some islands that are more realistic. I think these are most ideal for a special family celebration such as a 40th wedding anniversary or a wedding BUT why not go just for fun?  Some have minimum stays, etc but in this economy I think there is room for negotiation!

2 week minimum stay
5 bedrooms
$8500/week

93 acres, 3 home
Staff of 13 (including personal chef)
take a boat or fly to the island using the private airstrip
12 people
5 minimum night stay
$9500/night

5 acre, rustic fishing resort
$5245/week

$28,000/week

9 bedrooms
5 swimming beaches
Casco Bay
$25,000/week

So this one is over the top - Necker Island, British Virgin Islands
Owned by Sir Richard Branson
74 acres
$344,000/week - (this is not a mistake)
